Tobacco CoalitionThe Howard County Tobacco Coalition is a program of (ITPC) Indiana Tobacco Prevention Cessation. The purpose of the Howard County Tobacco Coalition is to assure accountability for the provision of services to Howard County for advocacy, environmental awareness of second hand smoke, smoking cessation, and education. It also includes cessation in all areas of youth, adults, senior citizens, pregnant women and minorities. We offer free Quit Smart smoking cessation classes. The Quit Smart program is a program that combines powerful treatments to help people stop smoking, feel healthier, have more energy, and enjoy a longer life. These classes are offered at various locations. St. Joseph Hospital offers classes every Thursday at 6:00pm and Howard Regional Health Systems offer at various days and times. Please call the hotline at 453-8200. Classes are also offered at Open Arms, Housing Authority, Rescue Mission, etc. ITPC offers the Indiana Tobacco Quitline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW. When a patient calls the Quitline, a trained Quit Coach will provide various ways to assist you. We also have a VOICE Program for Howard County high school students. VOICE is a youth movement dedicated to exposing the tobacco industry and empowering the truths about smoking.
