Duties & Responsibilities: Using the provided curriculum and materials to facilitate educational groups. Maintain appropriate records on Nonviolence Education Program clients. Report problems, needs, and other incidents to supervisor. Other duties as assigned by the Nonviolence Education Program Coordinator or Executive Director.

Education Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education or related field preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education or related field required and 1 to 3 years’ experience providing services to adults, children and/or families in a related social service field may be substituted for a Master’s degree.

Organizational skills;
Demonstrates emotional maturity and good judgement;
Ability to handle stressful situations and
Demonstrated understanding of family development, family dynamics, family therapy, therapeutic practices and modern parenting techniques.

Parent Child Interaction Specialist/Home Visitor - Howard/Tipton Counties:     Full-time


Family Service Association is hiring a full-time Parent Child Interaction Specialists/Home Visitors to work with our Healthy Families program in Howard and Tipton Counties. Travel to surrounding counties is required on an as needed basis. Healthy Families is a voluntary, home visiting program that provides education, support, and case management to low-income families with young children ages 0 – 3 living in Howard, Tipton and Clinton counties to promote supportive environments that optimize child growth and development and encourage resilient, healthy families.

Duties: The PCI Specialist/Home Visitor provides education and support to families with young children.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefer applicants with some college education and who have experience working with parents and children.

Other Requirements: Requirements include reliable transportation, basic computer skills, good writing skills, good listening skills and compassion .

* Must be able to pass DCS background check.*

PRN Program Assistant/Clerical Worker


Responsibilities: Assist with clerical duties at the reception area, such as, answering the telephone, responding to requests for assistance, greeting guests, sorting incoming mail, receiving payments, writing receipts, and processing incoming faxes. The Program Assistant also assists with the Non-Violence Education Classes, such as, registering participants, accepting payments, and tracking attendance for participants and will assist with other programs, as needed.

Requirements: High School diploma or general education diploma (GED). Ability to work with people and learn new skills. Must have good computer, writing and communication skills, experience in Microsoft Office software, and the ability to learn other software programs currently in use.

The PRN Program Assistant is contacted on an as-needed basis and the number of hours per week depends on the needs of the agency. There is no guarantee of a minimum number of hours per week. Evening and Saturday morning hours are required.

Domestic Violence Program Advocate (Part-time Weekends)


Family Service Association of Howard County is hiring a Part-Time weekends Domestic Violence Program Advocate. The Advocate will assist clients residing at the Domestic Violence Shelter. Advocates are responsible for answering and operating the telephone system including crisis calls. Additionally, advocates are responsible for completing client intakes, ensuring that the client receives orientation (and understands the policies and procedures), and completing the client exit paperwork. They are further responsible for completing daily paperwork, unlocking doors, keeping record of where all clients are located, advocacy and in general assisting clients through an extremely difficult time.
