Parent Child Interaction Specialist/Home Visitor-Clinton County:     Full-Time


Family Service Association is hiring a full-time Parent Child Interaction Specialists/Home Visitors to work with our Healthy Families program in Clinton County. Travel to surrounding counties is required on an as needed basis. Healthy Families is a voluntary, home visiting program that provides education, support, and case management to low-income families with young children ages 0 – 3 living in Howard, Tipton and Clinton counties to promote supportive environments that optimize child growth and development and encourage resilient, healthy families.

Duties: The PCI Specialist/Home Visitor provides education and support to families with young children.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer applicants with some college education and who have experience working with parents and children.

Other Requirements: Requirements include reliable transportation, basic computer skills, good writing skills, good listening skills, and compassion. Fluent in Spanish is preferred. *Must be able to pass DCS background check.*

Details: The full-time position includes benefits including health, dental, life and long term disability insurance, and vacation and sick leave days.

Part-time Veterans’ Advocate


The Veterans’ Advocate will be responsible for responding to the veterans’ needs at Jackson Street Commons and will work under the direct supervision of the Lead Veterans’ Advocate. The Advocate will provide mentoring and teaching of life skills. The Advocate will conduct follow up on situations of the day such as wellness checks, assisting residents with problem solving and directing them to local resources. The Advocate will act as building supervisor, by conducting rounds / walk-through while on duty. The Advocate will document and respond to building issues if they arise and will enter case notes in the homeless management information system. The Advocate may supervise residents conducting chores in or around the building and may assist with clean-up, custodial tasks or organizing donations. The Advocate may work in high stress and emergency situations at times.

Requirements include a high school degree or equivalent and experience in crisis intervention, interpersonal communication and conflict resolution is a plus. The applicant must be able to work independently, have the ability to follow oral and written instructions, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, volunteers and the public, operate standard office equipment including computers, copiers and FAX machines, and follow safety and security practices and procedures. Evening and weekend hours required.

PRN Program Assistant/Clerical Worker


Responsibilities: Assist with clerical duties at the reception area, such as, answering the telephone, responding to requests for assistance, greeting guests, sorting incoming mail, receiving payments, writing receipts, and processing incoming faxes. The Program Assistant also assists with the Non-Violence Education Classes, such as, registering participants, accepting payments, and tracking attendance for participants and will assist with other programs, as needed.

Requirements: High School diploma or general education diploma (GED). Ability to work with people and learn new skills. Must have good computer, writing and communication skills, experience in Microsoft Office software, and the ability to learn other software programs currently in use.

The PRN Program Assistant is contacted on an as-needed basis and the number of hours per week depends on the needs of the agency. There is no guarantee of a minimum number of hours per week. Evening and Saturday morning hours are required.

Domestic Violence Program Advocate (Part-time Weekends)


Family Service Association of Howard County is hiring a Part-Time weekends Domestic Violence Program Advocate. The Advocate will assist clients residing at the Domestic Violence Shelter. Advocates are responsible for answering and operating the telephone system including crisis calls. Additionally, advocates are responsible for completing client intakes, ensuring that the client receives orientation (and understands the policies and procedures), and completing the client exit paperwork. They are further responsible for completing daily paperwork, unlocking doors, keeping record of where all clients are located, advocacy and in general assisting clients through an extremely difficult time.
