Domestic Violence Program Advocate (Part-time Weekends Midnights)

Family Service Association of Howard County is hiring a Part-Time, weekends, midnights (i.e. Midnight to 8:00 am) Domestic Violence Program Advocate. The Advocate will assist clients residing at the Domestic Violence Shelter. Advocates are responsible for answering and operating the telephone system including crisis calls. Additionally, advocates are responsible for completing client intakes, ensuring that the client receives orientation (and understands the policies and procedures), and completing the client exit paperwork. They are further responsible for completing daily paperwork, unlocking doors, keeping record of where all clients are located, advocacy and in general assisting clients through an extremely difficult time.

Home Based Case Manager (DCS Provider)

Family Service Association of Howard County has an immediate opening for a Part-time, Evenings, and Weekends Home Based Family Caseworker for our Department of Child Services (DCS) contracted programs.

The Home Based Family Caseworker provides services to the families which will include facilitating visits between parents/children/siblings and/or other members who have been separated due to substantiated allegation of abuse or neglect or involvement with juvenile probation. The incumbent also provides case management services and support for parents who are unable to appropriately fulfill parenting and/or homemaking functions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist assigned families through advocating, teaching, demonstrating, monitoring and role modeling new skills in the effort to build self-sufficiency.

Consistently and accurately completing required paperwork and reports within required timelines.

Provide high quality, family centered and culturally competent in-home services that include reducing maltreatment, improving caretaking and coping skills, enhancing family resilience, supporting healthy and nurturing relationships and childrenís physical, mental, emotional and educational well-being.

Conduct home visits, supervised visitation and/or transportation as required and/or requested by the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS).

Participates in DCS case planning and other team meetings as required.

Education / Experience

Possession of a Bachelorís degree in Psychology or Sociology, or licensed Bachelor Degree Social Worker or licensed Social Worker with a Baccalaureate Degree, Bachelorís degree with a Temporary Permit in Social Work or Bachelorís or Masterís degree in a directly related human services field is required.

In addition to Bachelorís or Masterís degree in a directly related human services field, the incumbent must also possess a minimum of 39 semester/58 quarter hours in the following coursework: Human Growth and Development; Social and Cultural Foundations; Lifestyle and Career Development; Sexuality; Gender and Sexual; Orientation; Ethnicity, Race, Status, and Culture; Psychology; Sociology; Social Work; Criminology; Ethics and Philosophy; Physical and Behavioral Health; Family Relationships; Advocacy and Mediation; Case Management; Resources and Systems; Social Policy; Community Planning and Relations; Crisis Intervention; Substance Use Counseling and Guidance; and/or Educational Studies. Qualifications

Must hold a valid Driverís License, have a car for full-time business use and maintain State of Indiana minimum insurance coverage.

Must be able to pass a local, state, federal and DCS background checks.

Must be free of contagious illness and conditions.

Must understand family dynamics, child development and community resources.

Must possess excellent writing, computer, and communication skills.

Must possess experience in Microsoft Office software and the ability to learn other software programs currently in use.

Healthy Families - Family Support Worker (Howard, Tipton, or Clinton County)

Job Description:
Family Service Association has Full-Time and Part-Time Family Support Worker positions available in Howard, Clinton and Tipton Counties. Healthy Families is a voluntary, home visiting program that provides education, support, and case management to low-income families with young children ages 0 Ė 3 living in Howard, Tipton and Clinton counties to promote supportive environments that optimize child growth and development and encourage resilient, healthy families

The Family Support Workers establishes a trusting relationship with at-risk families by initiating and maintaining regular client contact through home visiting services. Family Support Workers will increase the bond between parent and child by providing resources, support, encouragement and celebrating successes. Duties: The Family Support Worker provides education and support to families with young children. Travel to surrounding counties may be required on an as needed basis.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer applicants with some college education and who have experience working with parents and children.

Other Requirements: Requirements include: reliable transportation, basic computer skills, good writing skills, good listening skills and compassion.
